Unfortunately ImageMagick needs to be compiled for exactly the Perl version installed, to get PerlMagick running. On the reference installation it was necessary to compile ImageMagick from source. Installing PerlMagickusing MacPorts can therefore be problematic. Make sure xpdf is installed. Eventually you can use MacPorts to use the Windows binaries. If you want to index MS Office files, make sure catdoc is installed &#8211; if not, download and install from: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wagner.pp.ru\/%7Evitus\/software\/catdoc\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><em><strong>http:\/\/www.wagner.pp.ru\/~vitus\/software\/catdoc\/<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> and compile it according to the package information. Make sure xpdf and catdoc is running form the command line &#8211; therefore these programs need to be covered by the &#8220;path&#8221; variabe of the shell. To modify the path variable, you may edit .profile and\/or .bashrc . If you used MacPorts, the path &#8220;opt\/var\/bin is likely the correct path to include. Install the necessary perl modules. If your distribution does not contain the necessary perl modules, you can download them from cpan.<br \/>\nIn this case Type:<br \/>\ncpan &lt;enter&gt;<br \/>\nwhen you do this for the first time, you need to answer some questions &#8211; in most cases, the default settings should be sufficient.<br \/>\nWhen cpan shows its prompt, type:<em><strong><br \/>\ncpan&gt; install CGI::FastTemlate<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- The Module will be searched on the internet and installed<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt; install File::Mirror<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- same<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt; install Module::Load::Conditional<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- same<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt; install HTML::Strip<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- same<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt; install Tk<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- same<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt; install MP3::Info<\/strong><\/em> &lt;&#8212;&#8212;- same<br \/>\n<em><strong>cpan&gt;<\/strong><\/em> quitUnpack the gnu zipped tar archive to the root (\/) directory.Install the file index.pl, CD2Browse.pl and CD2browse.hlp somewhere in your file tree. By default it goes to \/var\/opt\/cd2browse\u00a0 &#8211; you may copy the perl scripts to \/usr\/local\/bin<br \/>\nAlternatively you can instruct your shell to search for executables also in \/var\/opt\/cd2browse by adding this path in the &#8220;path&#8221; variable of your shell.Install the skeleton and template files to \/var\/opt\/cd2browse &#8211; this is the default path &#8211; to change the default path, change the variable section of index.pl or create a Environment Variable named &#8220;C2BPATH&#8221; containing the path to the templates.<br \/>\nWith <em><strong>perl &lt;path to index.pl&gt;\/CD2Browse.pl<\/strong><\/em> you start the GUI (if the PATH has not been set it may help to first change the directory to \/var\/opt\/cd2browseTo test, type: <em><strong>perl &lt;path to index.pl&gt;\/index.pl<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you see the following message, you have successfully installed cd2browse:<\/p>\n<p><em>usage: perl index.pl -p &lt;path to index&gt; [-n -m -t -s -i -x -r -q -v]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Options:<br \/>\n-i\u00a0 do not index images(all over the file tree)<br \/>\n-m\u00a0 maxwidh of the preview image (default=800)<br \/>\n-n\u00a0 (re) calculate no images to save cpu time<br \/>\n-q\u00a0 be quiet &#8211; do not output progress information<br \/>\n-r\u00a0 do not use offline sort &#8211; needs a different template page.tpl<br \/>\n-s\u00a0 size of the thumbnails (default=90&#215;90)<br \/>\n-t\u00a0 title<br \/>\n-v\u00a0 do not create folder navigation in the page section<br \/>\n-x\u00a0 do not extact title from pdf file (all over the file tree)<\/em>Many thanks to J\u00f6rg Gier, who worked out the MAxOS-X installation<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cmfs.de\/icons\/transparent.gif\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MacOS-X installation: Download the g-zipped tar archive: cd2browse_105.tgz Make sure Perl, ImageMagick and Perl Magick is installed.
