The tree menu is the most clearly represented view of a given file tree. The sample in the link below is based on the well known “Howto HTML” documentation, which of course comes along with a well designed user interface, that really needs no extra menu on top. However it is a good example for a data tree, which contains a big amount of files.
THe XUL menu is another example where the menu is somehow hidden in dropdowns from the top menu.
